Don't be Afraid to Add Yellow to Your Wardrobe

August 05, 2013

Melissa Clark cooking videos are one of my favorite pieces in the NY Times.

This week she made corn ice cream (!) and it made me think about the color yellow and how it can add a fun touch to any wardrobe. It's not a color commonly used in fashion because some shades of yellow do not wear well with some skin tones, but as an accent, it can be a wow. Jackie Steiner has a great blog post about wearing yellow in various ways.

Here is a pair of my handmade earrings that could add a glowing touch of yellow to any outfit.

These earrings are a single statement accessory. The elongated teardrop shape of the golden yellow chalcedony briolette is graceful and dramatic and the tiny nugget accents next to the smoky quartz rondel add a subtle glint of gold. The ear wires are gold filled and the earrings are 2 1/4 inches long.

Where in your wardrobe would you use accents of yellow? And I don't mean melted ice cream on your lap :)
